About me

Hello, my name is James Anton Schymitzek. Im 25yrs old and live in Byron Bay, Australia. Though i haven’t always lived here its now my home , I grew up in a small town called Bowral a couple of hours south of Sydney and relocated 5yrs ago in search of surf, warm weather and a positive healthy environment to inspire me creatively and culturally. Byron has an amazing energy, theres no where else like it.

I work locally as a plumber and love surfing the amazing surrounding beaches as much as possible, the place is full of fun waves with little crowds. When Im not working or surfing Im chilling with my mates, heading down the northern to watch a live gig, Skating, jamming on the guitar or taking snaps on the Camera, this keeps me pretty busy.

The reason i have started this Blog is to share and document the adventure that i am about to embark on. I have been selected as an expeditioner to travel to Antarctica  for the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) working as a plumber for the 2014/2015 summer maintaining and expanding Casey Station. Antarctica is one of the most pristine and raw environments on the planet, to visit this place will surely be an unforgettable experience. Once I return I’ll continue my journey through to South America where i plan to buy a van/4×4, then hit the road exploring the empty coastlines and massive mountain ranges of  Chile, Peru and Beyond. With no predetermined destination in mind my goal is to explore, learn and of coarse find the holy grail of perfect uncrowded surf until such time as i feel i should return.
